Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using vinnocent.com you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms do not use this site.

Who We Are

VINnocent is a free vehicle identification number lookup service available at vinnocent.com. References to "VINnocent," "we," "us," or "our" refer to the operator of vinnocent.com.

What VINnocent Provides

VINnocent provides a free online tool that retrieves publicly available vehicle specification data from the NHTSA vPIC API, NHTSA Recalls API, and EPA fueleconomy.gov. This data is provided for informational purposes only. VINnocent is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NHTSA, the US Department of Transportation, or any government agency.

Accuracy of Information

Vehicle data displayed on VINnocent is sourced from third party government APIs and, for classic vehicle decoding, from historical manufacturer records compiled by VINnocent. All data is provided as-is without warranty of any kind. VINnocent makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or currentness of any information displayed. Vehicle data does not reflect: a vehicle's current physical condition, accident or damage history, title status, odometer readings, or any modifications made after manufacture. You should always have any vehicle independently inspected by a qualified mechanic before making a purchase decision. VIN data alone is not a substitute for a professional vehicle inspection or a comprehensive vehicle history report.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VINnocent and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from: your use of or inability to use this site, any decisions made based on information provided on this site, any inaccuracies in vehicle data retrieved from third party APIs, or any interruption or unavailability of the service. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the site is to stop using it.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use VINnocent only for lawful personal purposes. You agree not to: use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to query our service in bulk; attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or replicate our service; use our service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our servers or infrastructure; resell or commercially exploit data retrieved from our service without written permission; or use our service for any illegal purpose. We reserve the right to block access to users or IP addresses that violate these terms.

Intellectual Property

The VINnocent name, logo, website design, code, and all original content on vinnocent.com are the intellectual property of VINnocent and its operator. All rights reserved. © 2025 VINnocent. All rights reserved. Underlying vehicle data retrieved from NHTSA and other government APIs is publicly available data and remains the property of the respective government agencies.

Third Party Links and Services

VINnocent may display links to third party websites including nhtsa.gov and fueleconomy.gov. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any third party sites.

Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the site. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

10. Data Collection and Analytics

VINnocent collects server-side visitor logs including IP address, page visited, referrer, browser type, and approximate geographic location. This data is stored on VINnocent's own servers and is used solely for internal operational analytics. It is not shared with third parties, sold, or used for advertising. VIN searches are logged separately and cannot be associated with any visitor record.

11. Future Paid Services

VINnocent may in the future offer paid products or services including vehicle history reports. Any such paid services will be subject to additional terms presented at the time of purchase, including refund and cancellation policies.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved through good faith negotiation between the parties before pursuing any formal legal proceedings.
